Overcoming a Bad Run

After my legs felt sore on Wednesday morning’s run, I decided to do the Long & Lean routine from the Tone It Up Beach Babe DVD. However, I didn’t pop in the DVD. I have done the routine so many times that I have it memorized 🙂

I scrambled two eggs, steamed some green beans, and mixed it together with deli meat turkey and tomatillo sauce.  I also had my Tone It Up Bombshell Spell, a sweeter version of the metabolism boosting Meta-D.  I ate my apple before lunch.  Lunch was a salad with leftover salmon, brussels sprouts, slivered almonds, and balsamic vinegar.

I had great plans on coming home, getting in a solid 3 mile run, and working through the Tone It Up Bridal Babe workout.  The run didn’t start great and never improved. I went .25 miles and stopped to do some lunges and squats to stretch it out.  I pushed myself to complete the full mile and stopped again to stretch.  I realized at that point that it just wasn’t my day so I decided that I would push through the second mile and then either walk/run or just walk the rest of it.  Even using 1 min walk, 1 min run, my legs felt slow and tight.   At home I took out the Wedding Edition and selected three moves that worked the shoulders/core/back/arms and did 3 sets of 15 reps of each.

I hate when I have a run like that.  It makes me feel so down.  I had read on another blog that their bad runs to make them thankful for the good ones which are usually taken for granted.  I tried to keep that in mind and knew I was going out the next day so I would have a chance to make up for it.   I focused on the positive parts of the trip,  that I got in 3.43 miles towards my goal and got some great photos from the park, instead of the negative.  There’s always tomorrow 🙂

I left my camera alone after that, but finally ate the carrots and a larabar on our way to a wedding meeting.  I ate some almonds/raisins while making “Sloppy Joes” for dinner.  The recipe called for  ground turkey, three peppers, one onion, and a variety of spices!  It was awesome 🙂
