Play Hard Today

I popped right out of bed yesterday (probably from the excitement knowing that the impending snowstorm would give me a mid-week break from the alarm) and got right down to my AM movement. I did tabata style cardio and then tabata sit-ups. For the cardio part I just alternate movements where I’m moving quickly (left to right side touchdown lunge, jogging in place, and up/up/down/down on my bottom step for today). Then I used my tabata timer to do sit-ups for 20 seconds and then rest for 10 x 8 rounds. I managed 8 sit-ups each round.

Breakfast was a Sweet Breakfast Scramble in a jar of almond butter and about 6 strawberries. I was full until 11:30!! I knew it was time to eat when I caved on some sweets. I had a bite (literally, no more) of a blondie (a chocolate chip cookie type brownie). I declined the first time it was offered, but when the person said, “No, you have to try one,” I did … not so much because I couldn’t say no, or that I needed one, but because I didn’t want to make the person feel bad by saying no again. Isn’t that a funny thing?

I had my apple and salad for lunch. The salad had mixed greens, carrots, slivered almonds, canned chicken, goat cheese, avocado (for some staying power) and Tessemae’s Lemon Garlic dressing. Holy yumminess! The pictures doesn’t even show all of the goodness under there.

Despite the nasty weather coming our way this evening, it was a beautiful afternoon (sunny & 46). It got me thinking of one of my favorite quotes: “If you knew you couldn’t play tomorrow, how hard would you play today?” I took advantage of the great weather and went outside to the track to get in a run to loosen my sore legs. I ran 2 miles in 18:30 and did a 1/4 mi walk to cool down. I used the myWOD app again on the lap timer setting to see my splits for each 1/4 mile. Even for someone who isn’t into crossfit, the timers are so awesome to have!

After my run I snacked on some carrots and a bar … Which was green when I opened it. That was a shock, but then I learned that spirulina is an algae … That explains it!

After a late night of work, dinner was easy- leftover venison taco meat, half a baked sweet potato, and 3/4 tomato tossed together with 1 tbs Tessemaes Zesty Ranch. It had a kick but was really good!

Then my sweet tooth kicked in again. I had too many chocolate chips and dates. Once I discover a sweet treat, I have a hard time passing it up. That’s why the chocolate chips are now in the trash. Sigh.
